Become Elon Musk: 5 ingredients
1. Offer promising views
The world is not ideal, but that is exactly why there are great opportunities for improvement. Be visionary in what many would find very attractive – and make it concrete.
2. Be very thoughtful and perceptive
Both conceptually and analytically – in details and headlines. See the big picture around the previous point. Train yourself to think “slow”. Question facts and insights, most certainly your own.
3. Think BIG and be ambitious
Think how to relate to the bigger challenges of/on the planet. Aim to disrupt: how to make it “ten times” better, not “ten percent” better. Thereto: focus on that one big thing, and block the rest.
4. Play to win
You should really, really want this. Be devoted, if needed 80 hours per week. Keep surprising yourself in your drive to perform. Energy sources: a) real belief in it, b) keep learning, c) keep achieving challenging intermediate milestones.
5. Mobilize people
The right ones: smart, and wanting your thing. Challenge them and give them space. Their drive correlates with your vision, drive, knowledge, and people skills. Make sure people can see & monitor goals, tasks, and progress.
