As everybody knows by now, trying to obtain individual and peer-to-peer engagement works infinitely better than traditional advertising in this age. The holy grail of such engagement is to “go viral“, when your piece of content gets spread like crazy over the internet. Now it’s a lot easier said than done to go viral (the audience is lazy and not easily impressed), but Seth Godin highlighted eight levers in “unleashing the idea virus”. I’ve summarized them in this infographic for you.
EIGHT
LEVERS
TO …
… GO
VIRAL!
As you can see, you can use the levers independently as to enhance your attention value, but the idea is obviously to use them all simultaneously as to go viral. Credits for this (still) useful list to Godin, who came up with it about 17 years (!) ago, when the term “go viral” and social media as we know them now didn’t even exist yet.
